INTRODUCTION

The power of connection

Within the supply chain, we have a shared responsibility to work increasingly sustainably. This makes the process complex, and that is precisely why we truly need each other to achieve impactful sustainability.

At Aviko, sustainability grows

For me, 2025 has very much been about collaboration. Working together with colleagues within Aviko, but also with growers, suppliers, customers and other partners across the value chain. Every day, I see how we take action together to make our chain more sustainable, step by step.

For me, collaboration is not optional, it is essential. We can only make potato cultivation and the potato industry future-proof by truly working together. Aviko is keen to take on a coordinating role in this. Organising collaboration across the chain – from farm to fork – is part of our DNA. I am convinced that it is precisely this connecting role that enables us to make progress on this important agenda. I am proud of the steps we have taken together with our chain partners over the past year.

Collaboration across the value chain

A strong example of collaboration within the chain is the launch of our Sustainable Supplier Programme. Together with our parent company Cosun and international suppliers, we are working to make key purchasing categories more sustainable, such as vegetable oils, packaging, transport and food ingredients.

In April 2025, we brought together our top 50 suppliers to mark the start of a more sustainable partnership. The first results are already visible. Together with our suppliers, we are making our potato transport more sustainable by using biofuels, testing electric trucks on international routes and exploring plant-based alternatives to dairy ingredients.

Another inspiring initiative was the Sustainability Day for our German customers, where we engaged in open dialogue about sustainability efforts in cultivation, in our factories and at customer level. Launching plant-based alternatives and products with a lower CO₂ footprint together with customers marked an important milestone in 2025.
Our Future Proof Farming programme with growers also demonstrates how collaboration makes us stronger: taking the transition forward together and sharing knowledge and responsibility.

Reducing CO2 emissions in our factories

Across our factories, we are working to reduce our environmental impact. Together with Cosun, we have defined reduction targets aligned with the Paris Climate Agreement, and we are pleased that these targets were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2025.

The focus is now on implementation. At our locations in Lomm, Venray and Warffum, we are investing in electrification with e-boilers. Here too, we work closely with partners such as Sappi, Tennet and Enexis to achieve our ambitions.

In addition, tailored agreements were made in 2025 together with Cosun and the Dutch government. These include targeted investments to reduce energy consumption and further lower our CO₂ emissions and nitrogen emissions.

This is just the beginning

Collaboration across the value chain is more important than ever. While it is not new, and something we have been doing for many years, it truly feels as though we are only just getting started. Achieving the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and safeguarding the future of potato cultivation requires more: developing joint initiatives, committing to long-term plans, sharing data, measuring impact together and building strong chain partnerships.

We continue to develop, learn and adjust. From farm to fork. Together – as committed partners – with the conviction that every step counts. This is where sustainability grows.
