Making a difference together
Aviko connects. People, cultures and flavours. It is no coincidence that Aviko’s mission is: “We bring joy to tables all over the world”. We are fully aware that we can only create joy for everyone if we operate sustainably – by taking good care of our people, our growers, our customers and, of course, our planet. This commitment is firmly embedded in the strategy of Aviko and our parent company Cosun.
In our ambition to contribute to a better world, we believe in the power of connection and collaboration. With a positive mindset and strong international engagement, we take a leading role in building a future-proof, sustainable chain.
In 2025, in alignment with Cosun, we updated our strategy for the years ahead. Sustainability continues to play an unchanged and prominent role. For a future‑proof Aviko, a sustainable chain from farm to fork is essential. Within our strategy, we place even greater focus on developing a resilient agri‑food chain and reducing our CO₂ emissions in line with the Paris Climate Agreement (Science Based Targets initiative – SBTi). Our approach has shifted from building a sustainability agenda to strengthening a solid foundation that actively seeks collaboration to jointly drive further sustainability improvements across the value chain.
Stakeholder engagement
We believe it is important to understand the world around us. That is why we continuously gather insights into perspectives, expectations, concerns, needs and (information) requirements of our stakeholders. Aviko distinguishes various stakeholder groups including employees, growers and other suppliers, customers, consumers, our parent organisation Cosun and its members, industry associations, experts and knowledge institutes, NGOs, regulators, governments, financial institutions and the media.
By maintaining an ongoing dialogue with our stakeholders, we gather valuable feedback while also informing them about our sustainability strategy and ambitions. In addition to daily interactions, we actively stimulate dialogue by organising stakeholder discussions. This is also an important element of the CSRD guidelines (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), for which we are preparing together with Cosun.
For example, in 2025, we multiple opportunities to engage in in-depth discussions with stakeholders to share and validate the most relevant, material sustainability topics. This took place through events and meetings, as well as through conversations embedded in daily operations. These and other dialogues help us assess and further refine our sustainability strategy.
Ensuring a successful approach
At Aviko, sustainability grows. Every colleague is involved in the implementation of our sustainability strategy. Together, we are making Aviko more sustainable step by step. Our approach can be summarised as follows:
- Our Sustainability Manager ensures a coordinated and structured implementation of the strategy and reports directly to our CEO.
- The three pillars and associated sustainability targets are embedded in the strategies and annual plans of the various departments.
- In 2025, we rolled out the Sustainability School across the organisation. Through training programmes, we provide employees with greater knowledge of sustainability, recognising that they are ambassadors and spokespeople for our sustainability ambitions.
- In addition, we introduced a new initiative: online Lunch & Learn sessions. Each session focuses on a specific sustainability topic and features inspiring conversations with colleagues. Topics range from integrating sustainability into customer discussions to managing risks in the supply chain and making cultivation practices more sustainable. The aim is to raise awareness and inspire action – everyone at Aviko can make a difference.
