Sustainability is not achieved through major investments alone. Just as important is the attention and awareness of colleagues in their day-to-day work. That is why, over the past year, we have focused on increasing sustainability knowledge within Aviko Rixona. Through the internal Sustainability School, we guide colleagues step by step through developments in sustainability. We explain why sustainability is a strategic pillar, how it contributes to our future resilience, and the role each department plays. In doing so, we strengthen both awareness and engagement within our teams.
Sustainability on the shop floor
At Aviko Rixona’s production site in Venray, the focus was on the production process itself. During the training sessions, colleagues explored where energy losses occur and how these can be identified in daily operations. We also looked at ways to reduce water consumption through smarter usage. Factory walk-throughs played a key role in this process: participants were challenged to identify improvement opportunities themselves and translate these into concrete, feasible proposals. This clearly demonstrated how small adjustments together can lead to noticeable impact.
Supply chain insight: understanding our impact
The training sessions are closely aligned with daily work practice. For colleagues from purchasing to sales, topics included our efforts in cultivation, the role of Future-Proof Farming, and the growing importance of sustainability for our customers. By making the entire supply chain visible, it became clear how everyday decisions – both large and small – contribute to a more sustainable product flow.
Growing awareness
By deepening knowledge and linking it to recognizable work situations, we increase understanding of the role sustainability plays in daily processes. Step by step, more space is created to naturally integrate sustainable choices into everyday work. This forms an important foundation for achieving our sustainability ambitions, with and thanks to our colleagues.
